Baseball Game Preview: Beachside Barracudas vs. Spruce Creek Hawks

The Beachside Barracudas will face off against the Spruce Creek Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Beachside's hitters haven't had much luck over their past four contests, but Tuesday's matchup will give them a chance to turn things around.

Last Thursday, Beachside came up short against Fernandina Beach and fell 5-2.

Beachside saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jason Gillespie, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance gave Gillespie a new career-high in stolen bases. Another was Jack Tapley, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Hawks on Monday. Spruce Creek's pitcher stepped up to hand Viera a 4-0 shutout. The win made it back-to-back victories for Spruce Creek.

Not much got past Jordan Livingston, who gave up just four hits to keep Viera off the board. Livingston has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

Beachside's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Spruce Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Beachside has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Spruce Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.6 strikeouts.
