            Baseball Recap: Wayland Wildcats vs. Coopersville Broncos        
        
		
        
        
            Wayland extended their losing streak  to three  on Monday, dropping their season record down to 11-12 in the process. They fell  7-4 to the Coopersville Broncos. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by  exactly three  runs.
 Wayland saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Hoyt Borgic, who  went 1-for-3 with one  home run and two  RBI. That  home run marked the first that  Borgic has  launched this season.
As for Coopersville, they have  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-2-1 record  this season. The  win was familiar territory for they, who have now won three  contests in a row.
On Coopersville's side,  Ethan Umlor made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He  pitched five innings while giving up just one earned  (and two unearned) runs off   four  hits. Umlor has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box,  going 1-for-4 with one  stolen base, one  run,  and one  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Trenton Kloosterhouse was  excellent,  going 1-for-2 with one  stolen base, two  RBI,  and one  run.  Zach Velzen was another key player,  going 2-for-4 with two  stolen bases and one  run.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wayland will head out to  face off against Unity Christian  at 4:15  p.m.  on Thursday. As for Coopersville, they will face off against Covenant Christian at 4:15  p.m.  on Tuesday.
