Baseball Game Preview: Gibsonburg Golden Bears vs. Woodmore Wildcats

The Gibsonburg Golden Bears will take on the Woodmore Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Gibsonburg's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Woodmore's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Woodmore will be up against a hot Gibsonburg team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Golden Bears walked away with a 4-1 victory over Old Fort on Thursday.

Woodmore came out on top against Danbury on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Wildcats blew past the Lakers 12-3. Considering the Wildcats have won seven matches by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Collin Perkins, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted over his last ten contests. Calvin Lipstraw was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Gibsonburg pushed their record up to 13-6 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Woodmore, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.
