Volleyball Recap: Chula Vista Comes Up Short

Chula Vista was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 2-0 to the Morse Tigers. The Spartans were not able to make up for their loss to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in March of 2022.

Morse's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jhiovanni Lacosta, who had 16 assists and three aces. Lacosta has been hot, having posted 16 or more assists the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Nowitzki Hillberg, who had 12 digs.

Chula Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Morse, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-9.

Chula Vista didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Victory Christian Academy on the 14th. As for Morse, they will square off against Mar Vista at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
