Softball Game Preview: Alhambra Moors vs. Schurr Spartans

Alhambra hasn't had much luck against Schurr recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Moors will face off against the Spartans at 3:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Alhambra fell victim to Mark Keppel and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Aztecs, falling 9-0. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Moors' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Schurr's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They lost 13-4 to California. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Spartans, who until this matchup were averaging 2.84 runs allowed.

Samantha Maldonado made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double.

Schurr's loss dropped their record down to 14-4-1. As for Alhambra, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.

Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Alhambra hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Schurr struggles in that department as they've averaged .400. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
