Softball Recap: Salpointe Catholic Extends Winning Streak to Six

It's playoff time, and Salpointe Catholic had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Poston Butte Broncos with a sharp 10-0 win on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Lancers, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Salpointe Catholic got a great performance from Macee Jackson as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Jackson has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 20 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Molli Daley, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Leylani Cuesta, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Salpointe Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Poston Butte struck out seven times.

The victory was the sixth in a row for Salpointe Catholic, bringing their record up to 23-6-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.2 runs on average over those games. As for Poston Butte, they moved to 20-10 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Salpointe Catholic nor the Broncos have any future games scheduled.
