League recap: Caliche paces 1A District 4 with two wins over past week

1A District 4 league recap: 4/3/13

Top honors in the league this week go to Caliche, which finished with two wins overall, good for best in the league. The Buffaloes beat Peetz 16-3 and Akron 9-6.

The Bulldogs currently lead 1A District 4 with a 2-2 record overall and a 2-0 mark during league play. Caliche is in second place, 1.5 games behind with an 0-1 record in league play.

The Buffaloes' pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 18 hits and 18 walks to lead the league in both categories.

Even after stealing 19 bases to lead the league over the past week, Caliche is still looking up at Peetz, which ranks No. 1 in steals, with 38 on the year.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Mitch Davison, who turned in 11 Ks for the Buffaloes. He's second in the league with 14 total strikeouts.



The Rams' davison struck out eight Caliche hitters en route to a 10-9 victory on March 30. Over his five innings pitched he allowed one run on three hits.
