Baseball Recap: Warhill Finds Home Field Redemption Against Smithfield

There's no place like home for Warhill, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They came out on top against the Smithfield Packers by a score of 7-3 on Wednesday. This was a revenge game for the Lions: when they faced off against the Packers back in March, they had to take a 12-9 defeat.

Evan Harney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Grayson Thompson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Theo Manna, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Warhill's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Smithfield, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-9.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Warhill will take on rival Jamestown at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Smithfield is set to square off against their familiar foe Poquoson at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
