Basketball Recap: Worth County takes loss despite strong efforts from Kynah Steele and Riley Ridge

Basketball Recap: Worth County Tigers vs. St. Joseph Christian Lions

The Worth County Tigers lost against the St. Joseph Christian Lions back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Worth County fell 52-41 to the Lions. While losing is never fun, Worth County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 500th, while the Lions are ranked 151st).

Worth County's loss came despite strong showings from Riley Ridge and Kynah Steele. Ridge scored 13 points along with two steals, while Steele dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 34.1% of Worth County's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Worth County's defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-17. As for St. Joseph Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Worth County is on the road again on Monday and plays the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th. As for St. Joseph Christian, they will face off against the Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Holt comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
