Baseball Recap: Fairview Gets the Win

Fairview won against Northwestern last Wednesday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Tigers came out on top against the Corry Beavers by a score of 6-2. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Beavers, too.

Vinny Campoli made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Campoli was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

Campoli wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Szklenski, who went 2-for-4 with two runs. Szklenski is becoming a predictor of Fairview's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't).

Fairview has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Corry, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Fairview has already played their next game, a 7-4 victory against North East on the 16th. As for Corry, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-3 win against Northwestern on the 22nd.
