Longmont is 0-5 against Erie since May of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Trojans will look to defend their home field against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m.
Longmont is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Fairview, falling 10-3.
Collin Pool was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Magley, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Erie entered their tilt with Skyline on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Falcons 10-1. Considering the Tigers have won nine contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kaden Bertsch looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Austin Muir, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Taylor McMaster was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Erie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Skyline only posted a batting average of .091.
Erie's victory bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Longmont, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.
