Softball Recap: Shoals Christian Comes Up Short

Shoals Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 6-2 to the Vina Red Devils. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-1 back in February.

Shoals Christian saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maleah Phillips, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. That run marked the first that Phillips scored this season.

Shoals Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Vina, they moved to 5-11 with that victory, which also ended their ten-game losing streak.

Looking ahead, Shoals Christian will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Cherokee at 4:30 p.m. As for Vina, they will square off against Foley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Foley has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.31 runs per game on average), something Vina will no doubt try to take advantage of.
