Baseball Recap: Williams Field Black Hawks vs. Higley Knights
Williams Field had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 14-10 to make it four. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Higley Knights. The Black Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Williams Field saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Asher Landry, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
As for Higley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games.
On Higley's side, Ryan Birch tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave Birch a new career-high.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ty Henze, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
While Williams Field had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
