Andi Medina was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple.
Medina wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Emma Lopez, who went 1-for-4 with one run.
Meanwhile, Timothy Christian didn't have quite enough to beat Fenton on Friday and fell 11-9.
Sophia Mook and Lauren Kottke did some serious damage despite the final result: Mook went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Kottke went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple marked the first that Kottke has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Chloe Wetterquist, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.
Chicago Hope Academy's record is now 9-8. As for Timothy Christian, their record now sits at 9-4.
Chicago Hope Academy's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's match. Chicago Hope Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Timothy Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Chicago Hope Academy continue to outrun the ball?
