North Branford came tearing into Sunday's matchup with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the St. Paul Catholic Falcons, sneaking past 4-2. For the Thunderbirds, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 victory the Falcons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Lauren Vitarisi spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Adriana Hills, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Madi DeStefano, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

North Branford's win was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 27-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for St. Paul Catholic, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 26-4 record.

North Branford will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Falcons: the pair will be back at it again later today.
