Softball Recap: Fort Mill Comes Up Short

Fort Mill was the 5-1 winner over Charlotte Catholic when they last played one another back in February of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. Fort Mill fell just short of Charlotte Catholic by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Elaina Hildebrand was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Brooke Rosario was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one double. Emily Poteat also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Fort Mill's record now sits at 3-3. As for Charlotte Catholic, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-3.

Looking ahead, Fort Mill will square off against Indian Land at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Charlotte Catholic, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Charlotte Catholic Cougars face off against Providence Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Providence will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something Charlotte Catholic surely won't give up without a fight.
