Softball Recap: Highland Rams vs. Woods Cross Wildcats
Sadly, Highland is still looking for their first win of the season after ten matches. They suffered a tough 18-5 loss at the hands of the Woods Cross Wildcats on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Highland of the 35-33 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.
Highland saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucy Warner, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Ruby Meza, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Even though they lost, Highland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That's the best batting average they've managed all season.
On Woods Cross' side, Natalie Wall was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Moen, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.
Highland's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Woods Cross, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.
Highland will stay at home for another game and welcome Skyline at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Woods Cross, they will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Bonneville at 3:30 p.m. Bonneville is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 12.7 runs per game this season.
