After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pendleton County, Campbell County was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Bishop Brossart Mustangs an 11-0 shutout. The Camels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.
Hope Hamilton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. Hamilton was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Addysen Griffin was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Samantha Perry was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Campbell County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Brossart only posted a batting average of .062.
Campbell County's win bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Bishop Brossart, they dropped their record down to 14-7 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Looking ahead, Campbell County will be playing in front of their home fans against Bracken County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bishop Brossart, they will venture away from home to challenge St. Ursula Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
