Cypress entered their tilt with Canyon on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They pulled ahead with a 61-60 photo finish over the Canyon Comanches. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Centurions' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while the Comanches are ranked 27th).

When it comes to explaining why Canyon lost, don't look at Brandon Benjamin. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 31 points and ten boards. The match was Benjamin's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Zach Cutler was another key player, putting up nine points and eight rebounds.

Cypress' win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 17-9. As for Canyon, their loss dropped their record down to 19-7.

Cypress will take on Crean Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. As for Canyon, they will challenge La Habra at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Canyon's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.
