Softball Game Preview: Borrego Springs Rams vs. Vincent Memorial Scots

For the second straight game, Borrego Springs will face off against Vincent Memorial. The Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Scots at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Borrego Springs knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Vincent Memorial likes a good challenge.

Borrego Springs took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past Vincent Memorial 16-15. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rams have posted against the Scots since May 10, 2019.

Borrego Springs got a massive performance out of Kayla Rodriguez, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Rodriguez has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times she's played. Lylamae Gutierrez was another key player, getting on base in three of her eight plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Vincent Memorial and nudges their season record down to 3-5. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Borrego Springs, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 6-10.
