Baseball Game Preview: Mt. Vernon Rams vs. Freeburg Midgets

Mt. Vernon hasn't had much luck against Freeburg recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Rams will be playing at home against the Midgets at 4:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Mt. Vernon is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Salem on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 3-1.

Mt. Vernon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Diedrich Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Freeburg's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Triad.

Mt. Vernon's loss dropped their record down to 12-17. As for Freeburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-14.
