Baseball Game Preview: Castro Valley Trojans vs. Alameda Hornets

For the second straight game, Castro Valley will face off against Alameda. The Trojans will be playing at home against the Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Castro Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Alameda will be up against a hot Castro Valley squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Trojans walked away with a 9-6 win over the Hornets on Tuesday.

Scott Baldwin tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Arthur Sims was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Anthony Mares was another key player, going 4-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

Castro Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

Castro Valley's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Alameda, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.
