Preview: Watertown vs. Westmoreland

If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Watertown. They will look to defend their home turf on Friday against Westmoreland at 7:00 PM. Watertown are coming into the contest hot, having won six in a row.

Watertown put the finishing touches on their 5th blowout victory of the season last Friday. They were fully in charge, breezing past Forrest 49-14. The Watertown offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the matchup anyway.

Meanwhile, it was all tied up at the half for Westmoreland and Jo Byrns, but Westmoreland stepped up in the second half. Westmoreland took their game against Jo Byrns 14-0. The success represented a nice turnaround for Westmoreland, who in their last game suffered a tough 0-37 loss.

Their wins bumped Westmoreland to 5-1 and Watertown to 6-0. In their victory, Watertown relied heavily on senior Heath Price, who rushed for 103 yards and 4 touchdowns. Westmoreland will need to find a way to minimize his impact if they want to win.
