Recap: Mitchell Mustangs vs. East Lake Eagles

The Mitchell Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against East Lake, falling 78-47. Mitchell has not had much luck with East Lake recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

Mitchell lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Fillipe Frangie, who scored 11 points. Ben Unger was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds.

Tyler Becker was a one-man wrecking crew for East Lake as he went 7 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 23 points and 7 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Becker has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Shane Singleton, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Mitchell's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for East Lake, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mitchell won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against River Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on January 13th. River Ridge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 682nd, while Mitchell is ranked 311th). East Lake on the road again on Tuesday and play against Seminole at 7:45 p.m. on January 16th.
