Basketball Game Preview: Miramonte Matadors vs. International Jaguars

The Miramonte Matadors will square off against the International Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Miramonte is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56 points per game this season.

Last Thursday, Miramonte rang in the new year with a 57-48 win over Vallejo. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Matadors.

Miramonte's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Henry Hawkins, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 13 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Santiago Bossutt-Ugarte, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 13 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, International came up short against Montgomery on Monday and fell 58-50. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 589th, while the Vikings are ranked 230th).

International has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Miramonte, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
