Softball Game Preview: Routt Catholic Rockets vs. Pleasant Hill Wolves

The Routt Catholic Rockets will take on the Pleasant Hill Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Routt Catholic is looking for their season's first win.

On Tuesday, Routt Catholic came up short against North Greene and fell 8-4.

Meanwhile, Pleasant Hill entered their contest against Pittsfield on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Wolves fell just short of the Saukees by a score of 4-3. Wolves fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Saukees since on Tuesday.

Ava Wombles put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kaitlyn Borrowman made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Pleasant Hill's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Routt Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.
