Baseball Recap: Fairmont Firebirds vs. Roncalli Royals
Fairmont had lost four straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 13-15 to make it five. They fell just short of the Roncalli Royals by a score of 7-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Royals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 on Saturday.

Fairmont saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Mastro, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The Firebirds are 6-1 when Mastro posts two or more runs, but 7-14 otherwise. AJ Culbertson was another, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
As for Roncalli, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 21-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.
On Roncalli's side, Nico Amodeo looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairmont will venture away from home to take on Troy at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Roncalli, they will head out to challenge Decatur Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
