Baseball Game Preview: Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs vs. Mattoon Greenwave

The Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs will square off against the Mattoon Greenwave at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Mahomet-Seymour is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Normal Community just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Monday. They came up short against the Ironmen, falling 11-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Bulldogs haven't been shut out since back in April.

Meanwhile, Mattoon didn't have quite enough to beat Salem on Tuesday and fell 2-1.

Mattoon saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madden Johnson, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Mahomet-Seymour's loss dropped their record down to 18-7. As for Mattoon, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-14.

Everything went Mahomet-Seymour's way against Mattoon in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Mahomet-Seymour made off with an 8-1 victory. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Greenwave have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
