Northern California Top 25 high school football rankings: No. 1 De La Salle survives first-half scare, six teams idle due to wildfire smoke

Spartans increase 30-year unbeaten streak against teams North of Clovis to 317 games; Second-ranked Folsom rolls No. 20 Jesuit by seven touchdowns.

Drift smoke from Northern California wildfires led to a number of postponed or canceled high school football games last week. It's  something that could be the norm for the foreseeable future.

It's been an unfortunate trend for years, from the Bay Area to the Chico and Redding region, up to the Oregon border and well up Highway 50 into El Dorado County and now to the shores of Lake Tahoe.

Beyond the fire and smoke, COVID-19 testing issues also led to canceled games. High school football teams try to carry on. Here are the best from the North region of the state.
