There's no place like home for Homer, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Houston Hawks 1-0. The Mariners have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Hawks on Friday, too.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Homer who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-18.

Swift Blackstock paced Homer's offense, picking up seven kills. Blackstock got some help from Alysha Nyvall and her 13 assists. Nyvall was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Homer's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Houston, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Homer beat the Hawks by a score of 2-0 later that day.
