Volleyball Preview: Shafter Generals vs. Kennedy Thunderbirds

After both having extra time off, the Shafter Generals and the Kennedy Thunderbirds will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Shafter is looking to tack on another W to their nine-game streak on the road dating back to last season.

Last Thursday, Shafter got the win against Delano by a conclusive 3-0.

One reason for the win was Shafter's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-23, 25-11.

Shafter was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 19 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in September of 2023.

Meanwhile, Kennedy didn't have quite enough to beat Wasco last Tuesday and fell 3-2.

Shafter is on a roll lately: they've won 19 of their last 21 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 25-3-1 record this season. As for Kennedy, their loss dropped their record down to 12-11.

Everything went Shafter's way against Kennedy in their previous meeting back in September, as Shafter made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Shafter since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
