The Muenster Hornets will head out to face off against the Nocona Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Muenster sitting on five straight wins and Nocona on six.
Muenster's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Alvord with a sharp 14-0 victory. Considering the Hornets have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Muenster got a massive performance out of Anna Kay Hennigan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, three runs, and one triple. That's the most hits Hennigan has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Hacker, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and one run.
Muenster always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .760. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Nocona gave up the first runs last Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 5-2 win over Era.
Reagan Phipps spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up 12 Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tinley Cable, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Kaitlyn Tiffner was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base.
Muenster pushed their record up to 9-7-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.5 runs. As for Nocona, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Muenster hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Nocona struggles in that department as they've averaged .438. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Muenster's way against Nocona when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Muenster made off with a 13-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Muenster since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
