Baseball Recap: Argyle Gets the Win

It was a Battle of the Birds when Argyle challenged Timber Creek on Thursday. The Argyle Eagles had just enough and edged out the Timber Creek Falcons 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Argyle got a great performance from Nixon Tooley as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Tooley has become a key player for Argyle: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 1-2 otherwise.

At the plate, Grady Emerson was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

The victory got Argyle back to even at 3-3. As for Timber Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

Looking ahead, Argyle will take on Northwest in a tournament on Friday. As for Timber Creek, they will be taking part in a tournament against Saginaw at 12:15 p.m. on Friday. Saginaw has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.63 runs per game on average), something Timber Creek will no doubt try to take advantage of.
