Volleyball Game Preview: Carrboro Jaguars vs. Riverside-Durham Pirates

The Carrboro Jaguars will venture away from home to challenge the Riverside-Durham Pirates at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Carrboro came up short against Falls Lake on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The Jaguars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Carrboro took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-13, 25-15.

Meanwhile, Riverside-Durham faced Eno River Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Pirates took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bobcats. While the Pirates didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bobcats 25-20 in the first set.

Riverside-Durham started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-14.

Despite the defeat, Riverside-Durham saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jacob Feller had eight digs and two aces. Feller is on a roll when it comes to aces, as he's now served two or more in each of the last four games he's played.

Riverside-Durham's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Carrboro, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
