University Liggett's Nate Gaggin recorded the longest rushing play in Michigan Independent this season in his game against Parkway Christian last week. Gaggin ran for 68 yards on the play and finished with 148 on the day as his team beat Parkway Christian.
Lutheran Northwest moved up to 373 from 419 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Crusaders climbed the ranks as a result of a 49-20 win over Mayville.
University Liggett's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Gaggin threw for 153 and two touchdowns and Thomas Jackson had 65 yards receiving. Drew Jerome helped University Liggett's passing attack out by catching four balls for 36 yards.
University Liggett's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Knights feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Gaggin has thrown for 1547 yards and 16 touchdowns this season, while Jerome has 39 catches for 588 yards. Gaggin also leads the league in rushing with 691 yards.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Lutheran Northwest takes on Lou Ray's team. Don Justice's team has allowed 132 points this season, while the Knights have given up 100.
University Liggett extended the longest winning streak in Michigan Independent this week by beating Todd Francis' team, 53-13. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
