Soccer Game Preview: Newport Harbor vs. Edison

The Newport Harbor Sailors will take on the Edison Chargers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Newport Harbor took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They never let Corona del Mar onto the board and left with a 2-0 victory. That two goal margin sets a new team best for the Sailors this season.

Meanwhile, Edison hasn't lost a match since December 27, 2024, a trend which continued in their latest game on Friday. They won by a goal and slipped past Huntington Beach 3-2. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but the Chargers were the better team in the second half.

Edison has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 25 goals over those six games. As for Newport Harbor, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-8.

Newport Harbor might still be hurting after the 4-0 defeat they got from Edison in their previous meeting on January 3rd. Can Newport Harbor avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
