Basketball Game Preview: C.A. Johnson Hornets vs. Lee Central Stallions

The C.A. Johnson Hornets will head out on the road to challenge the Lee Central Stallions at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (C.A. Johnson has three straight wins, Lee Central has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

C.A. Johnson is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Riverwalk Academy to the tune of 115-17 on Thursday. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 62-6.

C.A. Johnson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Milton McCray out in front who went 8 for 15 on his way to 23 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance gave McCray a new career-high in steals. Aiassiac Germany was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 13 boards.

Meanwhile, Lee Central ended up a good deal behind Marlboro County on Saturday and lost 73-56.

C.A. Johnson will need focus on slowing down Jaquarius Davis, one of several Lee Central players who made an impact when they last played. He went 5 of 9 en route to 13 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamisen Wilds, who posted 12 points.

Even though they lost, Lee Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

C.A. Johnson's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-8. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points per game. As for Lee Central, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.

C.A. Johnson didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Lee Central when the teams last played back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 52-46 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for C.A. Johnson since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
