Preview: Mount Miguel Matadors vs. Mayfair Monsoons
The Mount Miguel Matadors will head out on the road to face off against the Mayfair Monsoons at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Mount Miguel sitting on eight straight wins and Mayfair on five.
Mount Miguel had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against Chula Vista on Friday as Mount Miguel made off with a 35-14 win. Considering Mount Miguel has won 12 matches by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Mount Miguel got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Matthew Barton out in front who threw for 214 yards and five touchdowns. Jeremiah Castillo did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 88 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Mayfair has more to be thankful for after their contest against El Dorado on Saturday. Mayfair came out on top in a nail-biter against El Dorado and snuck past 31-28. 31 seems to be a good number for Mayfair as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Their wins bumped Mount Miguel to 12-1 and Chula Vista to 10-3.
