Baseball Game Preview: Smyrna Eagles vs. Milford Buccaneers

The Smyrna Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Milford Buccaneers at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Smyrna is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Smyrna is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Delaware's top teams: Polytech, who was ranked 12th at the time (Smyrna was ranked 25th). The Eagles took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, Milford lost 9-3 to Caesar Rodney on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Buccaneers in their meetings with the Riders: they've now lost four in a row.

Smyrna's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Milford, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Smyrna skirted past Milford 2-1 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
