Preview: Calvary Christian Academy Eagles vs. North Broward Prep Eagles
The Calvary Christian Academy Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the North Broward Prep Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Calvary Christian Academy has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while North Broward Prep will arrive with four straight victories.
Calvary Christian Academy fought the good fight in their overtime match against Gulliver Prep on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Raiders 46-42. While losing is never fun, Calvary Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 399th, while Gulliver Prep is ranked 117th).
Despite their defeat, Calvary Christian Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Taryn Wakefield, who scored 13 points, was perhaps the best of all. The matchup was Wakefield's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Teagan Wakefield, who scored 13 points.
Even though North Broward Prep has not done well against Saint Andrew's recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. North Broward Prep enjoyed a cozy 57-42 victory over Saint Andrew's.
Calvary Christian Academy now has a losing record at 3-4. As for North Broward Prep, they pushed their record up to 4-2 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Calvary Christian Academy was dealt a bruising 54-20 loss at the hands of North Broward Prep when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Can Calvary Christian Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
