James Madison had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Oakton on Thursday. The Warhawks never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. The Warhawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.

The victory (which was James Madison's fifth in a row) raised their record to 18-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Oakton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-6.

James Madison and Oakton should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. The Warhawks (ranked 13th) will meet South Lakes (ranked 79th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (James Madison 3.2, the Seahawks 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Oakton will challenge Centreville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (108 vs. 252).
