Baseball Recap: Schoharie Has No Trouble Against Mayfield

Schoharie came out on top against Mayfield on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run third inning. The Storm were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Panthers. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Storm considering their two-run performance the match before.

Gordon Plank spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Zaiden Baker, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI. Tyler Dingee also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Schoharie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mayfield only posted an OBP of .208.

Schoharie is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Mayfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-8.
