Basketball Game Preview: Aguilar Wildcats vs. Primero Bulldogs

Aguilar hasn't had much luck against Primero recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Aguilar Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the Primero Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m.

Aguilar is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game two weeks ago. They lost 57-32 to Sangre de Cristo.

Despite the defeat, Aguilar got top-tier performance from Matthew Gonzales, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 boards. Gonzales is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Logan Cortez was another key player, putting up four points and eight boards.

Meanwhile, Primero entered their tilt with Hanover on Friday with 13 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 14. They walked away with a 49-40 win over the Hornets. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by exactly nine points.

Primero's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.4 points over those games. As for Aguilar, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Aguilar was taken down by Primero 68-16 in their previous matchup back in December of 2017. Thankfully for Aguilar, Vince Damelio (who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
