Preview: Saint Francis Catholic Wolves vs. Branford Buccaneers
Having just played yesterday, the Saint Francis Catholic Wolves will get right back to it and host the Branford Buccaneers at 8:30 p.m. on January 19th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard on Friday.
Meadowbrook Academy typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Saint Francis Catholic proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 55-47.
William Collett continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Liam Banks was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds and seven steals.
Meanwhile, Branford came up short against Trenton on Thursday and fell 73-64. Branford has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Saint Francis Catholic pushed their record up to 12-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.2 points per game. As for Branford, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season.
Saint Francis Catholic came up short against Branford in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 70-64. Can Saint Francis Catholic avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
