The biggest upset of the week belonged to Newcomerstown, who defeated 379th ranked Garaway, 15-7. Cody Hall ran for 95 yards during the win.
Sandy Valley scaled the state rankings by moving to 439 from 499 this week, the biggest jump in Inter-Valley. The Cardinals climbed the ranks as a result of beating Tuscarawas Central Catholic 28-0.
Sandy Valley's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Nate Shepler contributed 137 yards.
Shepler was a passing and rushing force as Zach Gardner's team beat the Saints.
Shepler was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 137 yards on 15 carries as the Cardinals defeated Tuscarawas Central Catholic. Lucas Dieffenbaugher also contributed to the rushing game with 88 yards on the ground.
Sandy Valley's Dieffenbaugher and Shepler led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Dieffenbaugher has thrown for 347 yards this season, while Shepler, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 11 catches for 169 yards. The Trojans' Jibril Dansby leads the league in rushing yards with 889.
Two of the top teams in Inter-Valley will go toe-to-toe this week when Newcomerstown takes on the Cardinals. Eric Brock's team's offense has recorded 99 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Sandy Valley has permitted only 77 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Malvern takes on the Pirates. As it stands, the Hornets are in first, while Garaway is in seventh.
