Basketball Game Preview: Niangua Cardinals vs. Everton Tigers

Niangua and Everton are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Niangua Cardinals face off against the Everton Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Niangua will be strutting in after a win while Everton will be coming in after a defeat.

Niangua is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Verona last Friday. Niangua snuck past Verona with a 43-37 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Cardinals as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Everton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 76-41 loss at the hands of Bronaugh.

Despite the defeat, Everton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Joshua Daniels dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 boards. The matchup was Daniels' ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Wylie Vigesaa, who posted six points and five rebounds.

Everton's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Niangua, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-7.

Niangua strolled past Everton in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a score of 57-39. Does Niangua have another victory up their sleeve, or will Everton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
