Baseball Recap: Granite Bay Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Granite Bay can now relate to. They fell just short of the Davis Sr. Blue Devils by a score of 8-6 on Friday. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Grizzlies, who fell 4-2 when the teams last met back in April.

Jace Bystrowski was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Granite Bay's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 9-17 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Brenden Pops, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Granite Bay has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-18 record this season. As for Davis Sr., the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 20-9-1.
