Volleyball Recap: Tuesday's Defeat Ends Rancho Verde's Winning Streak

After flying high against Vista del Lago last Thursday, Rancho Verde came back down to earth. The Rancho Verde Mustangs fell 3-1 to the Hillcrest Trojans on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2023.

While Rancho Verde had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 20 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 18-25, 25-22, 25-23.

The defeat snapped Rancho Verde's winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 13-9 record. As for Hillcrest, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Rancho Verde will challenge Arlington at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hillcrest, they will face off against JW North at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Hillcrest's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while JW North has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road.
