Basketball Recap: Spaulding Wins Going Away Against Peoples Academy

Spaulding came into Monday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They enjoyed a cozy 68-53 victory over the Peoples Academy Wolves on Monday. The matchup marked the Crimson Tide's most dominant win of the season.

Despite the loss, Peoples Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jack Lafayette posted 33 points. That was a full 62.3% of Peoples Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Blair Whitney was another key player, putting up seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Spaulding's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-8. As for Peoples Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.

Spaulding will square off against Montpelier at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Montpelier knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 14 contests -- so hopefully Spaulding likes a good challenge. As for Peoples Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against North Country Union at 7:00 p.m.
