Volleyball Recap: Hazel Toliao and Gabriella Duarte Secure Win for Deer Valley

Deer Valley picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Vallejo Redhawks.

Deer Valley never let Vallejo on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-10.

Leading Deer Valley to victory were Gabriella Duarte and Hazel Toliao. Duarte had 18 assists and one block, while Toliao had five digs and two aces. Duarte has been hot recently, having posted 14 or more assists the last three times she's played.

They weren't the only good server: Deer Valley was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. They are a perfect 4-0 when they serve at least ten aces.

The victory got Deer Valley back to even at 4-4. As for Vallejo, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Deer Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Oakland on the 6th. Hopefully Vallejo paid attention to the Wolverines' match: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
